Twilight

Today I went with some friends to see Twilight, and to be honest, I was very dissappointed by it. I mean, I didn't expect it to that great, but it was worse than I thought. Though there were a few nicely done moments, overall the whole thing was ****. Kristen Stewart can't act. Robert Pattinson was covered in makeup to the excess. Without a doubt, the book was at least 1,000 times better the the movie was.

Oh well. At least I was able to get out of the house. And the part right after the movie where Elayna somehow ended up sitting in the middle of the parking lot feeding the birds leftover popcorn was kind of funny :)

OOO but movie theaters here are so different here than in Brunei! Like, for one thing, you know how at Starbucks or Coffee Bean they have various flavorings you can add to your drink? Well, here, they have that sort of thing for POPCORN! Like, various sorts of powdered cheeses and stuff... :S And the actual theaters aren't as nice either. Like, the seats are covered in plastic, not fabric, and the floors aren't carpeted. There weren't even cup holders in the armrests where we were! Oh well....

Let It Snow!

Today, right after lunch, we looked out our classroom window and it was SNOWING! I mean, only a few flakes fell, and none of it stuck, but still it was snow! =D And it's only mid-November, so snowing now is seriously rare around here. Most of the time, we don't even have snow in December! And apparently, last year there wasn't any snow at all!

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't get any pics (don't know if you would have been able to see anything, anyways).

But, the air here is getting that wintery feel, where it's like cold and sharp but still sort of soft at the same time...I don't know how to describe it. :-S

It's very exciting =D

Tribue to McCain

Now, I don't know if any McCain supporters have found this blog, but if they have, then they are probably annoyed at my pro-Obama ness.

But to be honest, despite what some of you may think, McCain is actually a very honorable American. Infact, he is the perfect example of an American hero.

During the Vietnam war, John McCain fought among our brave soldiers. Like so many others, he was taken as a POW and imprisioned. For some reason I unfortunately can't remember, he was offered and early release from the POW camp. Yet, he refused, claiming that he would "not be released until all the other American soldiers were released." So, when he could've helped himself, he chose to suffer for the good of his country. Now that takes true loyalty.

Yes We Can!

Yes We Can, and We Did

First African-American President in the history of our great nation.

Just like many of you will stay up late to watch your football game, last night I stayed up late to watch the election. Only got 5 hours of sleep.

It was well worth it.

In the beginning it was boring because most states hadn't closed yet, so we watched an episode of House while waiting ;-P

Then we go back to the news. States going red and blue right and left.

We watched as the north went blue and the south went red. We watched as Texas went red and California blue. We saw Florida and New Mexico turn blue. We cheered as Virginia went blue, for the first time in history since Lyndon B Johnson.

We saw Senator McCain make his congressional speech in Arizona. The best speech he's made all campaign.

And then we waited.

For the announcement.

Barrack Obama became the President-Elect of the USA.

We heard the cheers in DC. Saw the crowd outside the White House. Felt the rally in Chicago. Saw the tears streaming from almost every African-American's eyes. Saw the shining faces of the young voters screaming "YES WE CAN!"

We saw Mr.Obama walk out on the platform, hand-in-hand with his daughter, his wife and other daughter by his side.

Felt every word of the great man's speech and was brought to a feeling that "Yes! We can succeed! Our country is not lost!"

For the first time in a long time, I felt proud to be American. To have witnessed such a historical event.

I wore my flag pin to school today with my head held high and pride swelling my chest.

I will not be ashamed. I will not be afraid.

Together, we can succeed.

And there's nothing you do can stop us.

Fall Back

It's daylight savings again! Actually, is it saving or giving back..? Not sure...anyways:

We turned our clocks back one hour today. So now the time difference between me and Brunei is 13 hours. So, for example, it is 1:32 pm on Sunday here, so it will be 2:32 am on Monday in Brunei.

I am not entirely sure why we turn the clocks back, but all I know is that we turn them forward again in spring.

Apparently, I'm going to the 74th best school in the country!
