Twilight

Today I went with some friends to see Twilight, and to be honest, I was very dissappointed by it. I mean, I didn't expect it to that great, but it was worse than I thought. Though there were a few nicely done moments, overall the whole thing was ****. Kristen Stewart can't act. Robert Pattinson was covered in makeup to the excess. Without a doubt, the book was at least 1,000 times better the the movie was.
Oh well. At least I was able to get out of the house. And the part right after the movie where Elayna somehow ended up sitting in the middle of the parking lot feeding the birds leftover popcorn was kind of funny :)
OOO but movie theaters here are so different here than in Brunei! Like, for one thing, you know how at Starbucks or Coffee Bean they have various flavorings you can add to your drink? Well, here, they have that sort of thing for POPCORN! Like, various sorts of powdered cheeses and stuff... :S And the actual theaters aren't as nice either. Like, the seats are covered in plastic, not fabric, and the floors aren't carpeted. There weren't even cup holders in the armrests where we were! Oh well....

Close Encounters With The Titans

All of you will probably be wondering: why is she talking about Titans? Some of you may not even know WHAT a titan IS. Well, don't worry, you don't have to know ;-P. If you want to find out, though, you should read a hillarious and completely awsome series of books known as Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The series is about a teenage boy who is a son of the Greek God Poseidon. Upon finding this out, he goes on a whirlwind of adventures and challenges in order to restore peace to Mount Olympus (on top of the Empire State Building), and to prevent the uprising of the Titan lord Kronos. Anyways, Kronos is supposed to have a temple on top of Mount Tamalpais (sound familiar?) where Atlas holds up the sky. So, to get my bro and sis to climb this peak, we used the Titan theory as motivation ;-P
This post is about our climb to the top of Mount Tamalpais "and our proof that Kronos really is rising". Read this post, and read the Percy Jackson series so some pointers will make sense =D

And even though this was taken on a different day, this was the last day in California I considered blog-worthy, so I will post it here.
Finally, a good picture of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Visit you again soon, California!

Blood Diamond - The Movie

Ok, this post IS a movie review.
Movie: Blood Diamond
Actors: Leonardo DiCaprio, Djimon Hounsou, Jennifer Connelly
Rated: R
Last night I watched the move "Blood Diamond" (playing on HBO this week for those who might be interested). Though it was pretty gory and bloody, it was a really good movie to see. I highly recommend it. It really gets behind the scenes and looks at the major conflict of blood diamonds occuring in Africa to this day! Informational, gory, tragic, loads of death; this movie really pacts a punch! And I mean it: it has a serious impact on the viewer.
The storyline: well, why would I tell you that? I might accidentally give something away, like the fact that the main character dies in the end, and it's all for the want of a diamond (woops). Or the fact that....well, I won't say anymore. :P Seriously though: a must watch!
Note: The post on blood diamonds has been updated for those interested.
